The site of the Odhams presses and Julius Salter Elias Rise

This is where Odhams publishing house used to be before they moved over to Lond Acre. It was home to famous periodicals such as Vanity Fair, The Family Doctor and Racing Pigeon.

It was also the scene of one of the most prodigious rises through the ranks of business long before Donald Trump and Alan Sugar were in short pants.

The Odhams presses were remarkable due to one Jewish man, Julius Salter Elias who joined the Odhams brothers as the lowliest office boy and, within a year of employment, had risen taken charge of the operation and was making a substantial profit. This extraordinary man was later made a peer of the Realm in recognition of his tireless industry.

Location: 19-24 Floral Street, Covent Garden, London
