Graham's King Willy Days
Graham Chapman was a hardened drinker in this famous gay pub
The 'William IV' pub feels a bit more like a country pub than a London boozer, thanks to the location in leafy Hampstead, and its lovely beer garden.
The King Willy (as it's known) claims to be the oldest gay pub in London, attracting a discreet gay crowd since the 1930's. It's rather more up-front these days, with a rainbow flag outside.
But it also has a comedy connection from days gone by, as this was a favoured watering hole of one 'Graham Chapman' of Monty Python's Flying Circus fame.
Graham Chapman was the quiet, pipe-smoking tweed-jacketed Python who qualified as a doctor - but his calm demeanour belied his true anarchic nature as, more than any other Python, he lived the complete lunacy of the show.
