Steve Davis started here
The club where Steve Davis first picked up a snooker cue.
This sports orientated working mens club is where Steve Davis first picked up a cue, at the billiards and then the snooker tables.
It was here at Plumstead Working Mens Club at the age of 12 in 1969, that Davis picked up the sport that he dominated in the 1980's. By 17, Davis had abandoned his education in order to play snooker, where he eventually won 6 world titles. He received the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in 1988, and was made an MBE that year.
