Elizabeth Taylor was born here.

This is where actress Liz Taylor lived until she was 7.

This is where actress Elizabeth Taylor (February 27 1932 to April 1939) lived from birth until she was 7. Her American parents Francis and Sara were residing here when Francis was an art dealer working in London while Sara was a stage actress called Sara Sothern. From the age of 3 Liz was taking ballet lessons and was already keen to follow in her mothers footsteps.

It's a grand 3 story, 5000 square foot red brick Georgian style home designed by Matthew Dawson and built in 1926. Inside it has 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, living room, sitting room, large kitchen/breakfast room, plus servants accommodations.

The home was previously owned by the esteemed painter Augustus John, whose paintings remained on the walls when the Taylors moved in. A few years later, Augustus Johns success in America would be in large part due to Francis Taylor, who sold his paintings exclusively in the United States.

Outside the home features lush gardens, described by Elizabeths mother, Sara Taylor as having tulips almost three feet high, forget-me-nots, yellow and lavender violas, flaming snapdragons, rich red wallflowers, and a formal rose garden that terraced down to the heath.

The seven acre Turners Wood Bird Sanctuary was accessible through the back of Taylor's garden, and if that wasn't enough, the backyard also sported a tennis court.

1939, keen to avoid hostilities, the Taylors left London as Britain entered the Second World War with Germany.

In 2008, Heathwood was put up for sale for the first time in almost thirty years for £6.5million and sold very quickly.
