Brian Jones' mystery death

The house where former Rolling Stone Brian Jones died.

This is where founding member and guitarist of the Rolling Stones Brian Jones lived and mysteriously was found dead. Shortly before midnight on July 2, 1969 the police arrived to find the body of Brian Jones that had been floating face-down in a swimming pool.

After several failed attempts at resuscitation Brian Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. His Swedish girlfriend, Anna Wohlin, was convinced he was alive when they took him out but he couldnt be saved.

Jones had developed a serious drugs problem and his role in the band steadily diminished until he left in June 1969 to be replaced by Mick Taylor - less than a month later he was dead.

Rumours and speculation that it might have more than accidental were fuelled further when in 2009 police reopened the case.

Location: Cotchford Farm
