The Railway

Vintage Hampstead music pub where Jimi Hendrix once played.

This classic Victorian Pub, built over 100 years ago, has had a few names - The Railway Tavern, The Rat and Parrot, and now The Railway. It's more famous for it's long gone musical heritage.

The Moonlight Club was a room in the basement here - way back in the 1960's artists such as the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix played here when it was called Kooks Kleek. U2 played one of their earliest gigs at this club.

Joy Division played here a month before the death of lead singer Ian Curtis in May 1980.

Location: 100 West End Lane, West Hampstead
