Birthplace of the Pre-Raphaelite

The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was formed here in 1848

On September 8, 1848, 19 year old artist John Everett Millais held a meeting here, his parent's home, with two friends, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and William Holman Hunt.

That day the trio formed The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, an influential new art movement and style which combined the concepts of medieval Mannerism with modern idealism and Romanticism.
