Duke&Duchess of Cambridge's Home

The apartment where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge live.

This apartment within Kensington Palace is no less than 21 rooms, more than fit for a future king or two.

They used to be Princess Margaret's plush pad, and now Prince William, Princess Kate, and young heir George.

The block is actually a townhouse of sorts, half of the clocktower wing of the palace. It's almost certainly designed by Sir Christopher Wren for King William and Queen Mary.

Queen Victoria's daughter Princess Louise lived here until her death, and then by Victoria's grandson, the Marquess of Carisbrooke. Princess Margaret was next but it needed extensive work following neglect and war damage.

In the garden room, one of the three windows had been bricked up at Princess Louise's request to prevent her husband sneaking out for secret assignations!

They also introduced a family kitchen - a radical palace concept at the time! The princess and her husband were keen totake cooking out of the hands of their staff making it a focus of their own domestic lives.

The Snowdon's entertained here too with Dudley Moore, Cleo Laine, Peter Sellers invited to tea.
