St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery
The smaller lesser-known cemetery in Kensal Green!
St Mary's Catholic Cemetery was established in 1858, and has been the final resting place for more than 165,000 Catholic adults and children for over 150 years.
There are three Grade II listed mausoleums, two mausoleums, and two graves named as Building of Merit.
The Belgian War Memorial is also Grade II listed.
Many Irish migrants who came to England during the Great Famine are buried here.
The famous Irish inventor Louis Brennan is buried here. He pioneered the torpedo, a helicopter, and gyroscopic monorail. Of the latter, Sir Winston Churchill once remarked: Sir, your invention promises to revolutionise the railway systems of the world.
