This is where revered illustrator Charles Keeping (1924-1988) lived from 1960 to his death in 1988.
Keeping illustrated more than one hundred books (including the entire novels of Dickens) and his lithographs have been exhibited around the world including the 1958 International Exhibition of Lithography at Cincinnati.
His prints can be seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum and here at The Keeping Gallery in Shortlands.
Charles Keeping won awards for illustrations (including Kate Greenaway and Carnegie Medals) particularly in children's books.
