This famous bootmakers stands in the building where infamous cad Lord Byron's bachelor pad once was.

The original John Lobb was a lame Cornish farmboy whose mastery of the Gentle Craft of last and awl brought him golden awards in the Great International Exhibitions of Victorian times. He became the proud holder of a Royal Warrant as Bootmaker to Edward, Prince of Wales and later King Edward VII.

The rich and famous have attired their soles with boots from Lobb's through the years from Cole Porter and Neville Chamberlain to George Bernard Shaw and Andrew Carnegie.
